Saturday 31st January:

Experience contemporary a cappella
singing including soulful harmonies
and vocal techniques. Led by Saphena Aziz and Perri Alleyne-Hughes

Saphena and Perri are founder members of Sense of Sound and are both choral directors, vocal arrangers and creators of new work. Migration Music performed at The Everyman theatre for which Saphena was the script writer and Perri the Musical Director was one of their most recent successes.

Their unique blend of rhythmic, improvised and choral interplay will see them delivering an a cappella Singing Day at this year’s Chorus festival at The Southbank in April. They bring contemporary approaches to a diverse range of musical genres in a style that has now become synonymous with Sense of Sound.

They are delighted be kick starting this year’s exciting programme of Singing Days and wish to welcome Joe Bunker and Ranjana Ghatak on board with much appreciation and a very warm Liverpool welcome.

Saturday 28th February:
Sing songs from the shows with Musical Director, Joe Bunker. A great opportunity to increase you understanding and enjoyment of Musical Theatre.

Joe is a Musical Director and Vocal Coach and teaches at The Millenium School of Performing Arts. He also teaches singing on the BA and MA acting courses at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Joe’s work in musical theatre is informed by his involvement in choral music and his passionate interest in vocal pedagogy. He recently completed two years as a Choral Exhibitioner in the Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where he studied singing under Ghislaine Morgan.

Saturday 28th March:
Join Ranjana Ghatak and explore the voice through circular rhythms, the decorative elements of Indian singing and the powerful effects of the breath.

Ranjana has worked as both an artist and educator for organisations across the UK, including the  Southbank Centre,City of London Festival, the British Museum & Serious International Music Producers. She previously also spent five years as an education project manager for the London Symphony Orchestra.
2012 saw the launch of a new sound called Open Souls with Jason Singh (Sound artist/beatboxer)Seb Rochford (drummer/producer). Performances have included the Exhibition Road festival and The London Jazz Festival (Queen Elizabeth Hall).

All workshops are £25 for full price with £20 concessions.

The workshops are open to those aged 16 and above.
