Our amazing Sense of Sound Choir is in the final 6 in the latter stages of this new BBC ONE entertainment progamme, LAST CHOIR STANDING! How fantastic is that!!!!!!
We have surpassed ourselves and according to the judges, Russell Watson, Sharon D Clarke and Suzy Digby OBE our “classy performances” mean we are going from strength to strength. This is no mean feat when you consider that around 900 choirs across the UK entered the competition.
Due to the wonderful vocal arrangements of the choir’s musical director, Perri Alleyne-Hughes, Sense of Sound’s unique rendition of Justin Timberlake’s, Cry Me a River has totally impressed the nation. Please check out www.bbc.co.uk/lastchoirstanding so see some of the comments which range from “outstanding” to “”emotional” and everything in between!
Tune into the next broadcast on Saturday 9th August when you will be able to see and hear the next amazing performance that Liverpool’s own Sense of Sound Choir will deliver!! Will they become the Last Choir Standing? You decide. x

Didn’t manage to catch the show but i just watched the recording (of cry me a river) on youtube and also caught ’signed, sealed, delivered’. I thought both performances were unbelievable and i wish you all the best in the rest of the competition, you fully deserve that place in the final 6 after everyones hard work. Good luck! Ogo for mayor
I’m not usually one for posting/emailing comments, but I’ve just run straight upstairs from watching the sing-offs on Sun 10th to find your website so I can say it is so wrong that you are out! I loved your style right from your first performance and I thought you had such a chance to win. I’m sorry I won’t be hearing you again on this competition, but I’ll be looking out for your performances elsewhere. Well done guys! Rachel (I’ve put our choir website above - we didn’t enter as we’ve had our 10th anniversary concert this year amongst other things (not that we’ve had stood a chance against the standard of you!), but we did sing in the Hull Last Choir Standing live event yesterday - good effort BBC for running a choral programme like this - really enjoyed it!)
THIS IS LONG BUT I PRAY YOU READ IT ALL - OR JUST SKIP TO THE BIT ABOUT YAZZ AT THE END!!!
I m sure you guys are receiving commisseration emails - but guys you really have to see this as a blessing. You are successful in your own right and have enough talent that you really didn’t need to win this contest - you are already winners. The truth is the competition is not about the best choir or the most talented. It is about t.v ratings and pull on your heartstring tales. I was the princes Trust Young Achiever of the year in 2003 and the truth is you guys deserve better. Also ACM have fingers in a lot of pies and Mark De Lisser works with a guy called Nick Rowley who is well connected with the BBC and not to take anything away from them, but you guys sung with real heart and soul - the sort that money cannot buy and nobody can teach you. So please don’t be this disheartened this program has fix written all over it. The truth is GOD MADE YOU GUYS UNIQUE FOR A REASON!! You guys were an inspiration way before this program came along.
God bless you guys and don’t be down for too long - tomorrow is another day and you guys have got to show this world what sense of sound means - there are a lot of people out there who need educating, so please knock ‘em dead in your own special and uniques way.
God bless you
p.s I don’t know if you guys remember Yazz from he 80’s and the only way is up - well check out her new Album, go on her website and and just listen
I have to say i have dyscalculia so doing these maths questions in oder to put up a post is hard work!!
P.s The album by YAZZ is called Running back to You - be blessed and be inspired Sense of Sound - God bless you all xx
I was so disappointed after seeing you leaving the Last Choir Standing competition. I think yours was the most professional, intricate and harmonically interesting performance all evening. It was, in hindsight, obvious that a crowd-pleasing (simpler) arrangement would please some of the jury who are maybe thinking of what comes over more “watchable” in the long term, for the competition.
Hello and a huge thank you to all the positive responses we have had re. our involvement in Last Choir Standing. It has been quite simply awe-inspiring!!
My name is Jennifer John and I manage our amazing choir which is an absolute joy for me.
Your support and good wishes far exceed any expectation we ever had and so everything is a bonus.
Much love and Best Wishes,
All at Sense of Sound x x x

Wow !!! Just want to share my sheer joy and excitement at seeing you perform so valiantly on ‘Last Choir Standing’. Sadly I did not watch the show live last weekend. I did manage to watch it this morning. In my humble opinion your performances was very innovative and ground-breaking.
Your last performance piece last Sunday Evening was extremely courageous and caught my complete attention. I was on the edge of my seat just now watching the recording and could feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing.
To sing aceppella for any choir can be risky but you make it sound comparatively easy. You are always in tune and I love the whole look you all have on stage
Congratulations also on your incredible performance of ‘Cry me a River’. I think Justin Timberlake himself would have been extremely impressed if he had seen this. Perhaps he might on You Tube … you never know !!
Well done and I wish you all the very best of success for the future and worldwide recognition will surely follow !!!
I’ve really got hooked on Last Choir Standing and tipped you guys to win as you were really streets ahead of the rest - can’t believe you got knocked out as your performances on the night were excellent. The other Choir that was in the play off have a bunch of nice kids but their song was very average whereas your rendition of ‘Angel’ was complicated and superbly delivered and no-one I was with could believe the judges voted you out - a travesty and politically motivated no doubt.
Good luck in the future.
Your positive comments are really welcomed and appreciated. I agree with you that the judges seemed to have an agenda. After asking us to deliver a certain complex and passionate performance we were then voted out with no constructive criticism. There is no bad feeling just bafflement. We are very proud of ourselves and our performances. The song choices may have let us down somewhat but we had a great time and if the truth be told it is quite nice to have our time back. The schedule was extremely demanding.
The other choirs still in the competition are proving themselves to be deserving of their place at this stage and I wish them all the good fortune that they so clearer deserve.
Once again a massive thank you and please all keep in touch.
love Jennifer John (Sense of Sound choir manager) x x x
