Sense of Sound Choir will be featured on Radio Four at 6pm this evening and also on BBC One’s North-West Tonight programme at 6.30pm following a performance this afternoon for re-opening of the Bluecoat.

A soulful quartet (guitar, bass, violin and three voices) perform an intimate set of original songs led by Jennifer John of Sense of Sound, a leading UK vocal agency and one of the Bluecoat’s new tenants.

a.P.A.t.T.
Described as Frank Zappa having a fist fight with Mighty Mouse, Liverpool-based a.P.A.t.T. are a jaw-dropping 6-piece that breeze through genres, swap around instruments and reek musical havoc wherever they travel.

Sense of Sound is delighted to have been given the contract to provide the singing workshops to prepare the girls for this wonderful participatory celebration.

Other partners involved in the project include Liverpool Samba School, Liverpool Lantern Company, Urban Strawberry Lunch, Osun Arts Foundation and Walk the Plank amongst others.

Following the Bafta Award-winning success of The Choir, the sequel The Choir – Boys Don’t Sing returns to BBC Two this week.

Featuring the highs and lows of ever-patient choirmaster Gareth Malone, the series follows Gareth as he tackles, in his usual head-on way, the task of teaching choral singing in Lancaster School – a large boys’-only state school in Leicester.

Sense of Sound was called upon to help inspire and encourage the boys’ participation. Members of Sense of Sound Choir spent a day in the school delivering workshops and performing alongside the boys. The 4 part series starts on BBC Two at 9pm on Friday 1st February. Sense of Sound will appear in episode three on BBC Two at 9pm on Friday 15th February so make sure you tune in to see what happened!

Sense of Sound’s latest commission by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic will be a reflection on the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2008 “Imagine…Remember, Reflect, React”.

This composition by Sense of Sound brings the startling and evocative voices of Sarajevo born singer Téa Hodzic and our own Sense of Sound Choir in a performance choreographed by Darren Suarez and directed by Paula Simms. Special guests include Kinetic Fallacy, Curtis Watt and Jonathan John.

Too easily we take for granted our right to have a voice and to express it freely. Through this thought-provoking new work, incorporating songs, music, movement and spoken word, Sense of Sound will explore how voices can be used to harm, heal, unify, celebrate and denounce.
