corporate training

Sense of Sound is an award winning company that specialises in vocal training (SINGING AND SPOKEN) across the UK and internationally. A female led organisation, its main purpose is to use music and in particular the human voice, as a tool for empowerment.

Its training activities operate in a wealth of communities and business sectors; from individual tuition through to projects within schools and universities, working with established artists in the commercial music industry, and most recently personnel development within the corporate sector. It has extended its range of services to include public speaking and presentation skills for the purpose of staff development.

In over 20 years of my many and varied training experiences, the Sense of Sound team made the often fraught activity of public speaking, a joy. Their willingness to encourage and engage colleagues whose involvement in public speaking has been limited, but whose abilities were hidden, made for a roller coaster ride of fun and serious focus on developing ones ability to get into that important activity… delivering the spoken word to an audience.

It is the quality of Sense of Sound’s training that led to the company receiving a Pioneer for the Nation award from Her Majesty the Queen in 2003 for contribution to social change. Driven by the core values of motivation, transformation, professionalism and probably most importantly fun, the organisation continues to go from strength to strength.

Through specially designed bespoke training packages, Sense of Sound enables companies to encourage their staff to use their personal and vocational skills more effectively. It achieves this by improvement of communication and public speaking skills; team and confidence building; presentation & performance skills.

By taking part in Sense of Sound’s training programmes, participants can also benefit from facing a new challenge: singing. Group singing has an unexpected but dramatically positive effect on people, and the beneficial results of this can be applied to business. Mastering a new skill, particularly an unexpected one, can contribute to personal fulfilment and a sense of achievement. However, Sense of Sound is happy to work alongside clients to design bespoke packages.

In addition to our training, the organisation can also offer you entertainment for any corporate events.

Not content to simply train others, the organisation decided that the best way to showcase the powerful and positive effects of singing was to create a performance group. In November 2004, Sense of Sound Choir was formed. It is a multi-cultural, contemporary a cappella vocal ensemble that delivers original songs alongside the odd classic cover arranged in its own distinctive style. In November 2006, the Choir reached the finals of the BBC Choir of The Year competition and since then has worked alongside many high profile artists nationally. In December on 2007, the choir also featured in The Royal Variety Show where they performed in front of Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip.

Gary Wilkinson from The Observer magazine has described them as

the most uplifting and diverse group of inspirational singers I have heard in a long time… yet again Sense of Sound have managed to excel themselves as one of the leading exponents of a cappella performance that this country has to offer
